The Research Office is currently divided in three lines of activity: Institutional Research; Applied Research and Patenting; Ethics and Experimentation on Animals.
The "Institutional Research" activity line oversees all the administration and consultation for the assigning of University and governmental funding to teachers and researchers. The governmental funds include the Prin (Research projects of national interest), the Firb (Fund for the investment in basic research), the financing regarding the constitution of the Centres of Excellence for Research and CNR funds.
The staff provides information on funding possibilities and gives assistance and support in all the various phases that characterise the adhesion to a research grant, from the proposal to the final accounting.
The "Applied Research and Patenting" activity line is concerned with promoting university research, augmenting technological innovation employable in the industrial sector, and promoting and maintaining access to the various forms of research funding available on an international, national and local level.
The activities are principally carried out on two levels:
The "Ethics and Animal Experimentation" activity line, in collaboration with the competent University Committee, carries out systematic monitoring of the conditions of the animals used for experimentation and is occupied with ensuring the best living conditions of these, adopting the provisions foreseen by current laws. In addition, it promotes information initiatives regarding the protection of animals used in experimentation, through the organisation of courses, congresses and seminars, and provides legal consultation regarding this subject.
